Day 253: Six Flags

Six Flags.  A Chicago-land childhood necessity.  You know how you have moments when you feel like an incredible parent?  When you think to yourself, "I am so good.  Best mother ever."  Yeah, well...today wasn't one of those.  I only get to go to Six Flags (or as I call it, Great America) once a year.  And today was the day.  Really, I only want to ride one thing.  Whizzer.  I love it.  Plus, Lia can ride on it with me.  So, we get in line.  The second Lia figures out what we are in line for she has a screaming, flailing, full body panic attack.  She DOES  NOT want to go on Whizzer.  What do I do?  Try to force her so she gets over her fear, or give in to her and step out of line?  So, I talked her down by saying we would decide about riding when we got up there (fully thinking that I could quickly strap her in and we would be golden.)  Got up to the ride.  Second full fledged panic attack, complete with flight response.  There was no way I was going to be able to get her in.  No Whizzer for me.  We marched straight to Little Dipper (a smaller, less scary kid coaster) and I forced her to go on it.  Here is what she thought of it.

Sigh.  Maybe Ellie will like roller coasters better.  Onto happier pictures of our day...
