Day 228: Remembering Jason
My friend Jason passed away on Friday. He had a long battle with cancer. I have shared his story with many of my friends so that they could join me in prayer. And today I want to remember him and the fun times that I shared with him so many years ago.
Tim was cleaning the basement this past weekend and called to tell me he found one of my photo albums. I asked which one and he said one that had pictures of Jason in it. I started crying. All of my high school albums have Jason in them. We were together all the time. I could share many funny stories, but I think I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
Mission Trip to Minnesota 1997:
Jason is on the left and Tim is on the right. This is pretty typical of them.
Tale team. Jason was Japanese boy. I picture him right now in heaven doing the bowing/hugging scene with Jesus.
One of my favorite pictures ever. So funny!
The 10 of us that were on the trip.
I love Jason in this picture!
This was at my 15th birthday party. Jason always cuddled my stuffed animals. I have MANY pictures of him with my elephant, Darwin. (This Elmo is Ellie's favorite right now. She sleeps with it every night.)
A true Jason smile. I can hear his giggle.
My 18th birthday. So happy!
Homecoming my Senior year.
Junior prom...and Amy and Jason's first official date, I think.
Post-prom of my junior year at Brookfield zoo. Amy and Jason had just started dating. You can see it on their happy faces.
Turnabout my Senior year. Love Jason's baby breath behind the ear to match Amy.
The boys. Where are Jason and Nate looking?? Jason's smiley face tie is perfect for him.
Mexico 1995. My VBS group. I remember Jason sorting and distributing the crayons very fairly.
Jason and Amy at our Senior prom.
Senior prom group. We look SO young!
The last three pictures perfectly sum up Jason and his servant's heart. He was always willing to do the behind-the-scenes kind of work. Packing the bus, holding music, fixing the van...Jason never complained and never asked for praise. What a blessing to have known Jason. I am so thankful that I will see him again someday and that I know he is having a great party in heaven.
