Day 102: With spring comes new life
Today was a very sad day for my family. My grandma passed away this morning. She was 95 years old and had lived a very full life. We were so blessed to see her just a few weeks ago. Grandma was such an important person to me. Someone that I was really close to and that my girls loved with all their hearts. Grandma was a role model for me. A strong Christian woman who raised five kids and cared deeply for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Right after receiving the call that she had passed away, I packed up my kids and headed to Bible study. This group of women are my biggest support. The people that I can trust to give me a hug when I need it, tell me the truth, and pray for me and my family. Bible study was a good place to be heading. What I didn't know, is that they had planned a surprise baby shower for me. What a blessing to sit with these women, eat together, laugh together, and celebrate new life on the day that Grandma went to heaven.
Later in the afternoon, I took the girls outside. It was a beautiful day. And as we played, the girls found the first spring flowers in our yard. Yet another reminder of new life. God has a way of putting these things in our day when we desperately need them. Grandma is in her new life in heaven. We are welcoming a new little one soon. And spring is here with new flowers, leaves, and beautiful sunshine.

I'm so sorry to hear this Gwen. I remember staying with your Grandmother (bless her heart!) when we were in college and went to CIT.
ReplyDeleteWe do not mourn as those who have no hope, for you will see her again. In the meantime, our prayers are with you and your mother in particular.
