Day 178: Lia's first sleepover

Lia had her first sleepover tonight. And it did not involve sleeping anywhere but in her own bed. We had planned on Lia spending the night at her best friend, Naomi's, house. Lia loves Naomi's house and was super excited for her sleepover. But, when it came time for bed, Lia was sure that Captain Hook was somewhere in Naomi's room, wanted the door open, and the lights on. So, Uncle Clay had Lia call and talk to me. As soon as I heard her wavering trying-not-to-cry voice, I knew we would be picking her up. Okay, here's a true mom confession: I am secretly happy that she couldn't make it without me. And I loved the huge hugs I got as soon as she walked back into the house. There. I said it. I'm glad my Lia is still a little girl for now. Not quite so grown-up. (Plus, now I don't have to write about how I teared up the whole way home after dropping her off. Oh, wait...)
